Author Hospitality Assistant


We are looking for enthusiastic and hard-working people to work in our Authors’ Yurt at Edinburgh College of Art in August. The Author Hospitality Assistants play a vital role in ensuring all our Authors receive a warm welcome and enjoy a relaxed atmosphere during their time at the Festival. You will greet authors on their arrival to site, maintain the hospitality offer in the Yurt, ensuring it is kept clean, tidy and well stocked at all times. We are looking for people with outstanding customer service and communication skills and confidence when dealing with the public and guests. You will have high standards of presentation, commitment and responsibility; an enthusiastic personality and a flexible, positive attitude. This is a great opportunity to learn how a world-renowned festival is delivered and play a crucial role in making this year’s festival events a success!

Edinburgh International Book Festival

The Edinburgh International Book Festival began in 1983 and is now a key event in the August Festival season, celebrated annually in Scotland's capital city. Biennial at first, the Book Festival became a yearly celebration in 1997.

Throughout its history, the Book Festival has grown rapidly in size and scope to become the largest and most dynamic festival of its kind in the world. In its first year the Book Festival played host to just 30 'Meet the Author' events. Today, the Festival programmes over 800 events, which are enjoyed by people of all ages.
